Feast Day of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary - 7 October 2025

7th October 2025
“The word rosary means 'Crown of Roses,' that is to say that every time people say the Rosary devoutly they place a crown of one hundred and fifty-three white roses and sixteen red roses upon the head of Jesus and Mary. Being heavenly flowers these roses will never fade or lose their exquisite beauty.” - Saint Louis De Montfort

In the Armidale Diocese the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is a Solemnity as she is our Diocesan Patron. Two Masses will be available in our parish at 9am and 5.30pm, with the praying of the Holy Rosary to occur before each Mass at 8.30am and 5pm.

The memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary (originally ‘Our Lady of Victories’) commemorates the battle of Lepanto (7 Oct 1571) when the Christian fleet defeated the Turks. The victory was attributed by Pope St Pius V to the recitation of the Holy Rosary. This great Marian prayer is traced back to St Dominic de Guzman who preached against the Albigensian heresy in the 13th Century.

A short excerpt from the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J Sheen's The Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary:

“All love tends to become like that which it loves. God loved man; therefore He became man. For nine months her own body was the natural Eucharist, in which God shared communion with human life, thus preparing for that greater Eucharist when human life would commune with the Divine. Mary’s joy was to form Christ in her own body; her joy now is to form Christ in our souls. In this Mystery, we pray to become pregnant with the Christ spirit, giving Him new lips with which He may speak of His Father, new hands with which He may feed the poor, and a new heart with which He may love everyone, even enemies.”

Prayer to the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, in these times of such brazen impiety, show thy power with the signs of thy former victories, and from thy throne, from which thou bestow pardon and graces, mercifully look upon the Church of thy son, His Vicar on earth, and every order of clergy and laity, who are sorely oppressed in this mighty conflict.

Powerful Vanquisher of all heresies, hasten the hour of mercy, even though the hour of God's justice is every day provoked by the countless sins of men.

For me who am the least of men, kneeling before thee in prayer, obtain the grace I need to live a holy life upon earth and to reign among the just in Heaven. Meanwhile, together with all faithful Christians throughout the world, I greet thee and acclaim thee as Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us. 🙏💐💖
