The month of October is a wonderful opportunity to begin or renew a daily devotion of praying the Holy Rosary. You can pray it whilst taking a walk, doing chores around the house, driving to work, waiting for the bus or train, when pottering around in the garden, the list goes on. If you can't get all five decades done at one go, then break them up throughout the day. Pray it devoutly, meditating on each mystery. And don't despair if you get distracted. Some of the great saints themselves confessed that they too got distracted whilst praying the Rosary. Persevere in praying it. When you notice your thoughts drifting, draw your mind back to the prayer.
Prayer of Supplication to the Queen of the Holy Rosary by Bartolo Longo who will be canonised on 19 October 2025
O Blessed Rosary of Mary,
sweet chain which unites us to God,
bond of love which unites us to the Angels,
tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell,
safe port in our universal shipwreck,
we will never abandon you.
You will be our comfort in our hour of death:
yours our final kiss as life ebbs away.
And the last word from our lips will be your sweet name,
O Queen of the Rosary of Pompei,
O dearest Mother,
O Refuge of Sinners,
O Sovereign Consoler of the Afflicted.
May you be everywhere blessed, today and always, on earth and in heaven. Amen. 🙏💖💐
